Waxing

Waxing

I waxed our boards this weekend. You can pay to have a board waxed for around $20.00, but if you own an old iron you can do it for only the price of the wax and a scraper. Basically you just drop melted wax on the board,  iron it smooth and scrape off the excess. In my opinion there is nothing better than waxing your snowboard on a cold day in the garage with a beer. I went to Sports Authority this week to buy new bindings for my snow board. Mine are old and could break at a moments notice. I would pay a small fortune on the mountain to get new bindings if that is where they broke, so I figured I would be better off just buying new ones now. Sports Authority had a great deal going on because they were attempting to get rid of last years merchandise. I got a pair of Burton bindings that were regularly $130.00 for $55.00 and a pair of Burton boots that were regularly $125.00 for $55.00. I felt guilty walking out…

Oh Christmas Tree

Oh Christmas Tree

We awoke on Saturday morning to a snow shower. If you’re not from Oregon you won’t understand that snow at the valley floor only happens one or two times a year, especially in November.  So, it was the perfect recipe for getting into the Christmas mood and going out to buy a tree. We drove to the top of bald peak (insert hair joke here) and found a tree farm. Since we were basically navigating in a cloud it took us a while to find where we were going, but the payoff was worth it. We got a great view with snow and fog and nabbed ourselves a 7ft Noble Pine. Strong storms are blowing in toninght, the rain is coming down sideways. The National Weather Service has issued a hurricane warning for the coast. I love a good winter storm!
